Can anyone suggest a shop in the DC area that can install the up-pipe at a reasonable cost? I'd do it myself, but it seems easier to work on this with a lift.

Lee - Define 'reasonable'. Harman Motive in SoCal is doing them for $100....nobody in DC comes anywhere near that cost.

Labor prices in cali are the lowest anywhere from what I understand.
Market over there must be saturated.
Ive heard like 20-40 labor for spring installs on hondas, which is easy but not worth that little money.

I guess $150 is the most I would spend.

I don't have the time to monkey with the car for 5+ hours to install the up-pipe myself. Too many home improvement projects to deal with.

Has anyone done this themselves?

I got quotes of $400+ from two local vendors in DC. I found a knowledgable and capable guy down in Richmond who will do it for 50% of that price. He turns wrenches on my buddy's 944S and STi, plus races Group N Rally with an older Subaru. I am gathering up all my parts and making a trip down for an install day (for anything I don't get done myself).

yeah, ams tuning are good. pro-imports in gaithersburg did mine, and they are good too. the 2 shops quoted me a price within $10-20 of each other. not super cheap, but what are ya gonna do....

I'm familiar with pro-imports. decent group of guys. I think I'll hold off on the up-pipe til I get a new down pipe as well. It would be a waste of labor costs if I did the two separately.

I just installed mine the other night. Jacking up the front end was all that was needed. Only took me about 3 hours including all the breaks to wring the sweat out of my shirt. =P Do it yourself, its cake but personally I think the job is worth more than 100$

I will warn you though. Have spare 10mm bolts and nuts ready. I snapped 5 of mine due to them being siezed. Now my subaru has a bunch of honda bolts on it =D

Pro-Imports quoted me $275! AMS Tuning quoted $175. Damn...thats on hell of a difference on an uppipe install.

that's a heck of a thing. a few months back when I had mine installed those 2 places were within $25 of each other and at the high end of that scale. i'd ask AMS to reconfirm that price if I were you. both are good shops though....

Yeah, when I asked Pro-Imports, the first thing the guys said was, "Oh thats a pain in the butt install."
