where is dave and busters? --- i think we should meet up at that indoor go cart track that Keefe mentions occasionally. I can't remember the name of it though.

Dave and Busters is located at White Flint Mall, Rockville MD. I think the website has the exact location if you want to see how far it is.
Go cart is cool. My suggestion was more of a "eat and meet" type.

I think I can do the 11th. I'd vote for some place a little more out of town though, so we can do some more driving. Trying to think of where....
How about a meet somewhere near Centreville or Manassas, then a drive out to Warrenton and Rt. 211 over to Luray. There is a turn there where you can do 80 mph and look out your side window, with lot's of altitude changes and switchbacks along the way. :D
To see what I am talking about if you are unfamiliar, http://maps.google.com/ and look up 'Sperryville, VA' - follow Rt 211 west from there. Cooter from Dukes of Hazzard fame has a restaurant (Cooter's) at the start of the fun roads with lot's of parking - the local MINI club does the meet and ride all the time:

that sounds like a good way to do it.
Meet at MachV in the morning, then the drive? That's my vote. (My patience with standing around lasts about an hour.)

the dyno day is from 9 to 5. are people interested in meeting there around 11 or so, spend a little time there, do some driving, and then find a place for lunch?
any other Mid-A people interested?
I'm down for whatever we choose to do.
Cooter's on 211 serves BBQ.....that's about a 60 minute drive from Dulles, IIRC. Then, on to the twisties?
Or, we could pass Cooter's and do the drive up 211 and either catch Skyline drive back to Front Royal (nice drive, but toll and 35mph the whole way plus cops on the weekends), or go down the other side of 211 to Luray and Rt 340 up through Shendoah and Stanley to FR. There is a GREAT burger joint called "Spelunker's" right in FR near the main entrance on the north end of Skyline.

11th @ 11am sounds good... Mach V first, then we'll decided what to do then.
sandwood
05-18-2005, 05:31 PM
yeah, maybe Cooter's for lunch then over 211 and something else. I'd definitely stay away from skyline drive though, for the same reasons you give. Anyone met KanosWRX and some of those other people before? see if they are interested?
FYI Mach Vs last 2 dyno slots are in the late afternoon - in case anyone was interested in that.
I'll PM 'CJK911' - he is the one I helped with the HKS coilovers (bought from B4_Maniac). He is a Loudoun firefighter and has a rotating schedule, so he may not be able to make it.
KanosWRX and 'TurboNV' were at the last open house....haven't seen them on the board much lately though.
Xenonk
05-18-2005, 09:28 PM
yea, I met them both, Kanos when he was buying the GT (actually, the one he bought was the one I wanted, but he bought the 3 days before I got mine).. and TurboNV was the person I sold a set of my 18"s when I had the WRX. Both are nice guys.

so everything's final or are we being all vaclempt (sp) and discussing? =).
sandwood
05-19-2005, 01:57 PM
verklempt. no, I think everything is agreed upon. what kind of car or bike is an FC3S?
cjk911
05-19-2005, 01:58 PM
I'm going to try to make it, assuming the wife doesn't have anything planned. I've been meaning to check out Dan's shop, but can't bring myself to drive the 20 minutes outside of Leesburg. After growing up in Manassas and Fairfax and having to drive an hour everywhere, I'm too spoiled by the amenities.
almondcookie
05-19-2005, 03:10 PM
FC3S is the chassis code for the 2nd generation Mazda RX-7. Like BP/BL is the code for the Legacy. As seen in Initial D...or now in the Options drift videos.
The FD is the last/3rd generation RX7, as seen also in Initial D but more recognized in that awful movie TFATF.
sandwood
05-19-2005, 05:13 PM
aha. thanks. so was there an FB? my dad had a first generation rx7 - it's the car I learned how to drive stick on, basically. always loved hearing that frantic beeping sound when you hit redline. =)
almondcookie
05-19-2005, 11:42 PM
Rx-3 and then the FB .. yep.
the redline buzz is probably the best thing on any rx7.
the most annoying sound ever created by man is the 'low coolant level' warning buzzer. >_<. no one knows if it's the pitch, the volume, the tone, a combo of all of the ... ugh... if they made that sound for all alarm clocks, there will never by anyone late for work EVER.
Bump for n00bs in NoVA/MD/DC/WV.
Meet at 11am at Mach V in Dulles, VA then drive out west (route TBD).

There is a CDC autoX scheduled for that day at the Freedom High school parking lot (Woodbridge)…. If all the slots fill up before I can register then I’ll definitely show up at Mach V.
Xenonk
05-31-2005, 05:07 PM
I will be louging around with the MachV crew :p because I will be at summit point on June 10th.. It's just too tiring to have back to back weekends and have a total of over 4000 miles on the odometer..
Keefe
Not driving with us Keefe?

June 10th is my FATT day, I will show up for the MachV dyno day and meet up with you guys on the 11th. I will have to check out early (probably around 5ish) to get home, it's my sister's birthday so I have dinner plans for that.

I can't make it unfortunately. I am halfway through laying marble tile in my entry hall, and halfway through changing my valve stem seals and valve spring retainers on my other car (ahhh...titanium valve spring retainers). So I need to finish up the other half of my projects next weekend. Hope you guys have a good time.

Are you guys on, rain or shine? I'm scheduled for Autocross that saturday - and will only be able to meet up with you guys if it rains.
I got my Bilsteins on.....I am there rain or shine. I'd like to get some backroad driving in. :D
Xenonk
06-06-2005, 12:24 AM
I'll probably have some kind of r-comps on, just long as it's not some off-roading or gravel.
Keefe
I was thinking we could take Rt. 211 up to Luray and then either head up to Front Royal, or go over to Rt 11 to Edinburg Gap, then up Ft Valley Rd to 55. All paved.

Technically they have a dulles mailing address.. however for what it's worth, i've always considered dulless and sterling to be the same thing.

Dulles is the fancy way to say Sterling. AOL is located in Dulles. Cheap old houses are in Sterling. Just like 'Potomac Falls > Sterling"

... hoping I can get this CEL sorted out tomorrow...
sandwood
06-10-2005, 03:07 PM
well, sorry to say I hAven't sorted out the CEL yet so i will probably have to skip this unless I can figure it out tomorrow morning. don't want to drive with the CEL on anymore than I have to.
How hard is it to swap the MAF? Maybe come tomorrow and we can swap it and see if that will allow it to be cleared?

so are you all back from this already? How'd it go?
I just got back in from Autocross, damn was it hot out there today.

06-11-2005, 03:23 PM
Well, it was me, Keefe, and Dan(PatagonianGT), plus Dan from MachV, but that doesn't count as he was working. It was cool to see the shop and watch an STI get dyno'ed, but would have liked to meet more people.
Yeah, the point was to meet up and drive. Summer is tough I guess....everybody has stuff going on.
rallispec
06-11-2005, 05:28 PM
yeah, it really sucked that autocross fell at the same time as the get together. It's always cool meeting other legacy owners.
I was the only legacy representing us at the track today (Keefe was with you all and i'm not srue what typespeed had going on today)
We'll have to try and another one of these meets another time -- maybe the next dyno day up at mackV. (seems to be a pretty nuetral spot for people to meet at)
So what car put down the highest numbers at the dyno today? Did any legacy's get done?

06-11-2005, 07:21 PM
sorry to miss it guys. I definitely hope to make the next one. I take it you didn't go for a drive from MachV?
Nope - Chris had to roll, so that left me and Keefe. It was about 95F in the shop....I bolted after over an hour there waiting for people to show up. Keefe disappeared at some point, so I didn't get to say goodbye before leaving (his car was still there).

I was actually in the showroom looking at a few things.
I left at 1pm to go out for a drive myself and had lunch with a few friends.. then saw my friend's 1999 2.5RS that he just bought yesterday.
Looks like I might have an STS car after all.
Keefe
Were you hiding behind the counter or in Dan's office? I looked for ya....oh well.
