I know there is a fuel thread, but it covers octane and such. What kind of mileage do you Subie experts think the 250hp turbo will get? I really have no idea, but I'm hoping for 18 city 25+ highway. Is that reasonable?

I am expecting 25-26mpg highway. This is based on the WRX getting 27mpg w/ a 2.0, taller gearing, but no AVCS. The Forester XT, however, is down around 24mpg with it's insanely short gearing. Obviously, it has to lie somewhere in between.

Well I have a Ford Explorer Sport Trac right now that gets about 14mpg in mixed driving. So anything will be an improvement over that.

I think my RS was rated 21/24 (?).
I get 30mpg on the freeway.
about 380 miles a tank.
If you drive with fuel economy in mind, besting the rated MPG is no problem.

18/24 is the MPG I have read in various non-U.S. press reports for the 2.5L H4 cars...this seems right to me...the article did not state MT or AT though for these figures. I'm sure we will find out very soon (New York Auto Show is getting close...we may get more details there).

I was told by one of the salespeople I know at my dealership that they were told by the regional rep the new Leg NA just may cross the 30mpg barrier! That'll be big for sales if they actually do that. I know a lot of people get all torn up over the 2mpg difference.
Best I have gotten on my MY97 Legacy GT is 29.75. So close. We'll try again next year.
As for the mileage on the new GT, I'd guestimate perhaps 18-19/24-26. I'd rather guess a range than exact figures as some things are open for interpretation at this point.

I'm averaging 9.6 l/100km (24.5 US mpg) with the 2.0 5AT. This includes city and freeway driving.

OK guys big question is AT or MT. It depends on driving habits on each individual and how heavy footed one is. To me, I have gotten MPGs that has raised eyebrows on many top on most scale. Calculation does play and important role too, whether US Gallons or Imperial Gallons (IG) were used. IG gives more MPG. I believe if I were to get onto a 6 sp MT, I'll definitely will be able to get over 30 MPG (IG) since cars are so fuel efficient these days and no doubt this Subie will.

Knowing me, on normal commuting and city/highway mix, anything north of 22mpg would be a blessing, but I settle for 20 flat. Then again, I don't expect my tires to last more than a year either. :D
