Between RX-8 , 350Z and a Legacy GT spec B ~ JDM

It's not available online so i'll just summarise

The Legacy is 5 speed, the other 6 speed RWD

Reviewers were very impressed with McIntosh sound on leggy.

0-100kpm (62mph) - note cause only 5 speed Legacy could hit 60 in second gear - hmm maybe 5 speeds aren't that bad after all.

GT 5.57 sec

RX-8 6.75 sec

350Z 6.24

Weight RX-8 lighter but less power - 350Z about 100lb heavier.

GT had best power to weight

The 350 & RX-8 had bigger brakes and out braked the GT.

All cars on 18" Bridgestone Potenza

RX-8 had no torque, 350Z more torque than GT - but GT peak torque was lower down.

THe GT was the quietest of the 3 by 2 db at 60mph.

Obviously the GT had way more cabin & luggage space

Id assume that to be the twin-scroll 2.0? What magazine?

Thanks for posting, EJ20. I don't think the 5-speed is bad at all. I like how I can crack 60 mph in my WRX wagon with a single shift.

Yep that right - can't see being too much diff with the 2.5T though

Well don't need the twin scoll with a 2.5 engine of course.

After all the twin scoll is a partial compromise on efficiency

Isn't there some rule in the US that a bigger engine can make more emmisions ?

Is the RX-8 turbo'd? It makes the same HP as the last gen RX-7. Seems slower though.

Thanks for the summary. I'm really surprised that they couldn't get a better time out of the 350Z. I mean, a heavier and less powerful Infiniti G35 (287hp vs. 270) can do 0-60 in 5.9 sec. Still, it's nice to see a Legacy compared against the Z and stomping it. It's hard to compare one magazine's test against another because of driver/track conditions/etc.
