The only option I ordered was the aluminum pedals.

Does anyone know why there's tar smeared all over my FRONT wheel wells?
My rears are clean:

I'm curious as to what this electrical connector is, it doesn't look too safe being all exposed for the world to vandalize.

Looking like the quality is not that good

Does it feel cheap?

It doesn't feel cheap, I just keep finding weird things like that hanging sponge, but they don't really detract from the driving experience.

Just make sure it's tar and not grease from your CV joint.

bemani

Its not grease, that I'm sure. I said front wheel well, but to be more accurate, it is only on the metal body part. The plastic pieces don't have them.

I jacked up the car, and that stuff is everywhere.
I hope the picture is clear, that black stuff was delibrately sprayed on.

Yellow stuff on the control arms and transmission case.

Oil filter trap door on the plastic skidplate

Man you are picky! That top one looks like the door lock. But it could be something that just makes the door shut nicer.

Having a door to the filter kind of sucks, because you may be likely to eventually strip those screws, but some other cars are starting to have these.

About the spray on the suspension, it looks like lubricant or anti rust. I don't see what the big deal is. And about those loose patches of fabric, and velcro, that is completely normal. Even Toyotas and Lexus have that.

I've seen electrical connectors in the front of many cars. I'm not sure what it's for, but I don't think it's the key to stealing your car.

Well yeah, I'm just trying to point out all the things that no one else bother to talk about.

That really is a structrual beam on the door for side impact, at least from what the salesman told me.

The deal is, all the little dust and pebbles the tire kicks up, gets stuck to it.

Nice car! Thanks for pointing those little things out though. Hopefully we can figure out what all those extras are there for.

Yeah, what 7 said about the anti-rust or lube. It defintely looks like "someone" (not sure if dealer or factory) meant to put it there. It's no CV joint issue...

Nice. That oil filter cover is something I've never seen yet, nice picture! Looks like it might strip as 7stars stated, but it maybe is decreases underbody drag a little?

Hehehe... the Acura salesman told me the TL was the only car currently made with that feature on the rear doors. :)

Nice pics and nice car.

I'm in my padded cell right now and someone else is typing for me while I wait for mine.

Looks to me like those turn and pull plastic kinda screws that you just push back in once you're finished, I'm sure they have a technical name.

My only option will be the metal pedals for a 5MT. How do you like them? I like the way they look, and I sure hope they are better for performance driving..

They're great, just like my WRX. I'm disappointed that it installs over the plastic pedals instead of being completely new pedals, but its a driving aid to me, so I'm willing to spend the $.

That is disappointing since the pedals cost me $160..
Oh well. I'll be happy with them I'm sure.

Nice pics bemani!

I like that blue. Almost got that myself but decided I didn't want to try to keep it looking so clean.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with the velcro carpet in front of the passenger seat. I didn't catch that in my test drives.

Did you get the Sub/amp option as well? The wires for it were run over the carpet between the drivers seat and the center console. I'm wondering if they'll be able to hide it better.

I didn't get any options besides the pedal.

BTW, do NOT take that cover off for fun ... that cover is held on by 4 of those plastic screw things, and for whatever reason, the holes don't line up when I put it back on.

Its not fun trying to wrestle one of those plastic screws into half of a hole ...

The mystery electrical connector is your outside air temp sensor.

Does the engine cover combine with the scoop to increase air flow to the IC?

From what I can tell...Yes. It sort of bulges up from the sides of the intercooler to meet with the underside of the hood scoop.

I wonder if the cover will fit the 2.5i? It desperately needs one, as it's quite an ugly beast...looks old. Does anyone know where the spark plugs are? I can't find them.

bemani
06-27-2004, 12:44 AM
It won't fit, it needs 2 of the holes near the top of the intercooler, you can see them in the photo.

The spark plugs are where they always are ... left and right sides of the engine, next to the battery and below the intake.

I believe they are called scrivits, at least that's what we call them at work.

I meant to take pics of my car this weekend after I washed it but the PGA championship was on and I was preoccupied. I will get some ASAP, weather permitting, and post them as well. Sorry about the delays.

I believe that electrical connector up front is the ambient air temp sensor. Probably used for in cabin temp display or for other control systems.
